AION 2 Elyos or Asmodians: Which Faction to Choose
Choose Elyos or Asmodians in AION 2 by friends, region, server and world preference. Understand what faction choice changes before creating a character.
Choose Elyos or Asmodians for the community and world you want to play in. Coordinate with friends before creating a character, then consider the visual style and starting territory. Do not choose a faction because an unexplained chart promises superior class damage.

What the choice changes
VGC’s October faction guide describes different starting regions and aesthetics, with the same class options available to both factions. That means you should choose your preferred job independently: the eight-class tier list applies the same editorial criteria to either side.
The official Global site frames the game around the Elyos and Asmodians. For current server restrictions, faction selection and character creation rules, check the live client and official announcements. Those service rules can change and should not be inferred from an older regional guide.
Friends first, visuals second
If you plan to level together, agree the region, server and faction in one conversation before anyone creates a character. Being able to form some cross-faction dungeon groups is not the same as sharing the entire early questing experience. Confirm which activities your group wants to do together.
For a solo player, explore the official media and decide which setting you would enjoy returning to. Neither a community poll nor one creator’s preference can tell you what will feel better after many sessions. Character appearance and the world around you matter more than a guessed population advantage.

PvE grouping and PvP goals
Treat each activity separately. VGC reports cross-faction parties for dungeon and raid challenges, while also discussing opposing-faction conflict in PvP. Before relying on that for a group plan, check how the current Global activity actually queues and what server or faction limitations it displays.
If organized PvP matters to you, find an active community in your region and ask about its usual play times. The busiest faction overall may still be a poor fit when your available hours do not match the players you want to join. A server recommendation needs a date and region to be useful.
Does faction change your build?
Our build advice starts with class role and encounter requirements. A Templar should learn its frontline job, a Cleric should manage damage and recovery, and a Chanter should coordinate support effects. A faction label does not replace those decisions.
When you see an item or NPC name from the opposite faction, compare its function and current tooltip rather than assuming your character is missing the same progression system. A name difference can make a walkthrough confusing without proving an actual power difference.
A short decision checklist
- Playing with friends? Confirm all three choices: region, server and faction.
- Playing mostly solo? Pick the world and appearance you prefer.
- Planning organized PvP? Choose an active community whose hours fit yours.
- Following an old guide? Verify it refers to the current Global service.
- Considering a later switch? Check the available service rules before treating it as reversible.
Do not invest heavily in a character while assuming an unannounced faction or server transfer will solve a social mismatch. Establish the shared starting point first, then use the beginner guide to plan your next session.
